There are two main ways to reduce the width.One of them is in case of the width taking space widely.For such patients after incising through the inside of the nostril it is sutured pulling with a thick thread.If the nostril is too big and round the skin around it is incised to decrease the size.However most of the times both methods are used together.

The patient at the bottom has big nostrils so incision area was designed.After the incision both sides were sutured in order to reduce the base.This is the way to reduce the base(width)as much as one desires.
