On case 630 & 631 it was first rhinoplasty and gore-tex was used. We use the 7th rib.
1)7th rib is the best since the 9th is too thin small and it's also bent which is not good enough. There are 10 ribs thus 9th one is located lower.
2) The lower 7th and 8th ribs are the thickest and longest. The best way avoid warping it's to use a straight rib. In addition the lower ribs are within abdominal cavity so Pneumothorax as well as the internal thoraxic artery and vein can be avoided.(More details about this will be published in the magazine called "Plastic Reconstructive & Surgery" as soon as we send the article.)
3)You can check it out under "Knowledge" #57 184 185 195.

>1.) i thought rib cartilage is taken from the 9th rib? isnt the 9th rib near the bottom half of the torso?
>2.) why cant the rib cartilage be taken from the lower half of the torso?
>3.) do you have a picture of the scar left by the rib cartilage removal
