There is no such thing as the "ideal material" in this world. The main problem with artifical materials is in its way of use. Complications occur when silicone or gore-tex is inserted all the way until the nasal tip. This means that no matter what the material is if it's used appropriately it will decrease the probability of complications.
Gore-tex is also an artificial material so it may cause trouble related to host immune reaction. Late inflammatory reaction can occur at 0.3%.
The selection of the material should be set for what the patient needs with the surgeon's objective decision. Gore-tex is artifial but the surgery is pretty simple. Costal cartilage is an autologus cartilage but it can leave a small scar by the rib area and longer op. time.
For a surgery objecting against The Creator's means there is no ideal material that can satisfy everything.
