Reducing the nose is only done when the swelling does not go down after the operation and the nose appears big. The nose won't get smaller just by injecting steroid without having the surgery done. If Triamcinolone (which is a type of steroid) is injected one may achieve decent results concerning the scar tissues depending on the case.
