It's all your decision about using your own cartilage or not. Every material has its own positive and negative aspects. Costal cartilage has a very low rate of side effects since it's an autologous cartilage; however it leaves a scar by the chest and it's a major surgery. Also warping may occur at rare cases. In our clinic we use materials such as silicone gore-tex costal cartilage and more according to the patient's choice.
