I rarely use silicone. Some positive aspects of silicone is that it's cheap and easy to insert. Well the negative side is that it forms a capsule inside the nose so gradually the nose becomes shiny and the shape of the silicone might become too obvious. Also contraction may occur.
There is no absolute material that satisfies all needs. Autologous cartilage is the best if possible and for the second best I would recommend gore-tex which is very soft.
