Donated rib is rib donated from another deceased human being, test are run to ensure the donor has no infectious diseases and the rib is surgically removed and sterilized. It is also irradiated to remove any traces of the donor's DNA to prevent rejection by the recipient's body. The end product is structurally similar to a normal rib, but without any trace of the donor's genetic material. The difference between a 'self rib' and donated rib is in the resorption rates. Donated rib can have a unpredicatbale resorption rate by the body versus self rib which undergoes minimal resorption.
