Thank you for your enquiry.

At Shimmian, we offer both Silicone and Goretex implants. As a general rule, silicone produces a "harder" look, or what some people may call the "operated" look. This is more evident in thin skinned patients. However, in patients with thicker skin, silicon may be ideal to produce the required definition. We will advise patients based on a case by case basis during the consultation.

We do revisions for both Silicone and Goretex implants. Goretex implants are slightly more difficult to remove, but usually this isn't much of a problem.

We generally do not use alloderm for primary rhinoplasties, as it is usually absorbed to some extent, which is often unpredictable, and it is too soft and thus harder to achieve the definition and results we have in mind.

I hope this answers your questions. If you have further enquiry, please feel free to email nosejung@gmail.com directly.

Best regards,
Shimmian Clinic

> Hi Dr.,
>
> It appears that most Korean plastic surgeons prefer to use silicone implant for rhinoplasty, except for your clinic.  I'm aware that each implant has its pros and cons.
>
> But in your experience, does Gore-tex implant have less risks (extrusion, contraction, deviation, thinning of the tip, ect.) than silicone?  In case of infection or unsatisfaction, can Gore-tex be removed succesfuly without damaging surrounding tissue?  What about Alloderm?  Is it as good as gore-text in raising the bridge?

> I'd prefer to have Gore-tex because silicon seems to be a very heavy product that tends to slide downward over time and there seems to be more revisions associated with silicone implant than other materials.
