1)"Shinyness" is not caused by the colored silicone. Skin tends to get thinner gradually with time causing the silicone and the surrounding membrane built by it appear as a reflection through the skin which causes the "shinyness."

2)Gore-tex's micro-pores allow small ingrowth tissues to form which makes the surface smoother unlike silicone that builds a capsule. In addition gore-tex is similar to fiber tissue therefore silicone will probably cause more"shinyness."
